Bach? This week&#8217;s Video Pick finds the Brazilian virtuoso Marcelo Kayath playing the last two movements of Bach&#8217;s <em>Lute Suite BWV 997<\/em>, originally written in C minor, but generally played by guitarists in A minor (Segovia, Williams, Bream, et al). The whole piece is marvelous, of course; I chose the video of these two movements for their bright and lively Baroque energy and complexity, which cheered me up instantly!<\/p>\n<p>The entire suite can be found of Kayath&#8217;s excellent 2016 <a href=\"https:\/\/guitarcoop.com.br\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GuitarCoop<\/a> album called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guitarsalon.com\/store\/products.php?keywords=Search&amp;categoryid=7&amp;filter%5B%5D=50&amp;status=0&amp;field_22=50&amp;field_24=&amp;field_35=&amp;viewmode=browse&amp;sortby=-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Suites &amp; Sonatas<\/em><\/a>, which besides the Bach, also includes the <em>Suite in F major<\/em> by Weiss, Sor&#8217;s <em>Sonata Op. 15B<\/em>, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco&#8217;s <em>Sonata Op. 77<\/em> <em>(Hommage \u00e0 Boccherini)<\/em>.
