And this young New York-based married duo\u2014Australian guitarist Rupert Boyd and American cellist Laura Metcalf; known collectively as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boydmeetsgirlduo.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boyd Meets Girl<\/a>\u2014is one of the most exciting and eclectic pairings playing music on those instruments; many of the arrangements are their own.<\/p>\n<p>Such as this truly beautiful rendering of French composer Gabriel Faur\u00e9&#8217;s famous <em>Pavane, Op. 50<\/em>, a piece originally written for piano and chorus in the late 1880s, but more popularly played as an orchestral work, or orchestra and chorus. It also spurred a popular ballet some years later, and influenced both Debussy and Ravel to write their own <em>pavanes<\/em>, which coincidentally have become staples of the classical guitar repertoire: Debussy&#8217;s &#8220;Passapied&#8221; from <em>Suite bergamasque<\/em> and Ravel&#8217;s <i>Pavane pour une infante d\u00e9funte.<\/i><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Boyd Meets Girl&#8217;s excellent eponymous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B071P7TKB6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">debut album, <\/a>which includes the Faur\u00e9 <em>Pavane, <\/em>came out in 2017. And the couple&#8217;s first baby, Milo, was born July 4, 2018, in New York City.
