(Great Video from 1962)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s always exciting to come upon vintage footage of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Andr%C3%A9s_Segovia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andr\u00e9s Segovia <\/a>in action, and this is some of the best I&#8217;ve seen: The Maestro in 1962, at the age of 69, performing a five short pieces with his usual calm demeanor but obviously intense concentration: Ponce&#8217;s <em>Gavotta<\/em> (in the manner of Scarlatti; Segovia first recorded it in 1944, though it was not released until the early &#8217;50s); Sor&#8217;s <em>Grand Solo<\/em> (recorded by Segovia in 1952); Villa-Lobos&#8217; <em>Etude No. 1<\/em> (recorded in 1949); and Torroba&#8217;s <em>Romance de los Pinos<\/em> (recorded in 1960) and <em>Fandanguillo<\/em> (recorded in 1928).
