Duarte&#8217;s &#8216;English Suite&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a piece guaranteed to bring a smile to your face: It&#8217;s the &#8220;Prelude&#8221; from <em>English Suite,<\/em> Op. 31 by British composer\/guitarist John W. Duarte (1919\u20132004). It was most famously played by Andr\u00e9s Segovia on his 1967 <em>Segovia On Stage<\/em> album; here it&#8217;s played by German guitarist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hannalink.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hanna Link<\/a>, whom I first encountered (musically) as a member of the fantastic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weimarguitarquartet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Weimar Guitar Quartet<\/a>. In past Video Picks and other showcases, we&#8217;ve posted performances from Hanna&#8217;s mates in the WGQ\u2014Stephanie Jones, Karmen\u00a0\u0160tendler, and Jakob Schmidt (as well as the entire group together), but I believe this is the first time we have featured Hanna alone.
