That\u2019s when San Francisco is hosting the third edition of the<strong> Concorso Chitarristico Internazionale Maurizio Biasini<\/strong> (the first time the prestigious biennial competition has been held in the United States), and it\u2019s not too early for guitarists born after 1980 \u201cwho are at the outset of their career\u201d to be thinking about preparing video auditions and applying. The deadline is August 31.<\/p>\n<p>Unedited videos of each entrant performing three prescribed pieces (by Villa-Lobos, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and Ponce) will be judged by a distinguished panel of experts from conservatories in Italy, France, Switzerland, and the United States; from that group, 12 semifinalists will be invited to perform at the San Francisco competition, which will also include three concerts. In addition to generous cash prizes, the winner will be invited to perform ad festivals in Paris, Bologna, and Basel, Switzerland. Martini Conservatory in 1979, the same year he got his physics degree at the University of Bologna. He passed away in 2008.
