The disc marked a number of shifts in group\u2019s creative direction, as their songwriting, arrangements, and production (by George Martin) became more adventurous and sophisticated. To celebrate this milestone, we\u2019re offering a recent video of guitarist Ian Ridgley performing British classical guitarist\/composer Mark Houghton\u2019s lovely and leisurely arrangement of the John Lennon-Paul McCartney classic \u201cNorwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)\u201d from that opus. \u201cNorwegian Wood\u201d is among the tunes covered by Milo\u0161 Karadaglic on his forthcoming CD, <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/1ld0LVI\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Blackbird: The Beatles Album<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, due in January from Mercury Classics\/UMC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can it really be 50 years ago today (December 3) that the Beatles released their landmark Rubber Soul album?
