Artists such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anavidovic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ana Vidovic,<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/miloskaradaglic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Milo\u0161 Karadagli\u0107<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/petarjankovic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Petar Jankovic<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sabrinavlaskalic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sabrina Vlaskalic<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.srdjanbulat.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Srdjan Bulat<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zoran_Duki%C4%87\" target=\"_blank\">Zoran Duki\u0107<\/a>, and the cavatina Duo\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.azabagic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Denis Azabagi\u0107<\/a> are just some of the fine players from the region common on the world guitar circuit. But arguably the most accomplished is Serbian <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urosd.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Uro\u0161 Doj\u010dinovi\u0107<\/a>, who was just given a special Lifetime Achievement Award by Serbia\u2019s National Association of Classical Musicians (UMUS)\u2014the first guitarist ever given that honor.<\/p>\n<p>Over his long and storied career, Doj\u010dinovi\u0107\u2014whose studies included a degree in music from the\u00a0Academy of Music in Zagreb (Croatia) and <em>two<\/em> doctorates from the University of Belgrade\u2014has performed more than 3,000 concerts around the world, taught guitar and lectured at a number of different schools, written and arranged hundreds of pieces of music (many of them based on traditional\u00a0 Balkan folk sources), published \u00a0many articles and contributed to various anthologies, and made dozens of CDs in a wide variety of styles. He is president of the Yugoslav Guitar Society and Foundation, and has served as artistic director or helped organize numerous Serbian musical events, including the famous Vrnjci classical music festival. In short, he is a tireless advocate for the guitar, and music in general, a worthy recipient for that high honor. For his part, Doj\u010dinovi\u0107 credits the late Serbian guitarist\/composer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guitarfoundation.org\/blogpost\/754189\/172255\/Remembering-Jovan-Jovicic-1926-2013\" target=\"_blank\">Jovan Jovi\u010di\u0107 <\/a>(1926\u20132013) for pioneering modern classical guitar in Yugolavia, including the incorporation of traditional themes in his some of his pieces, and inspiring him.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a video teaser for a DVD Doj\u010dinovi\u0107 released a few years ago called <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Uros-Dojcinovic-Guitar-Around-World\/dp\/B001ANIAF8\/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1463521606&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=uros+dojcinovic\" target=\"_blank\">Around the World<\/a><\/em>, which gives a sense of his skill and the diversity of his repertoire.
