She is a wonderful player who is equally comfortable playing music from 500 years ago and music from today. This Video Pick straddles those two epochs: Czech composer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stepanrak.cz\/stepan-rak-biography.html\" target=\"_blank\">\u0160t\u011bp\u00e1n Rak<\/a>\u2019s piece is modern, yet, as the title indicates, it is steeped in the music of another time. \u00a0I&#8217;ve been watching Gregoriadou&#8217;s videos semi-obsessively for a couple of weeks now (there are lots on YouTube), and between her confident musicianship and her large collection of beautiful and unusual instruments crafted by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kertsopoulosaesthetics.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kersopoulos Aesthetics<\/a>, I&#8217;ve been transfixed. \u00a0Gregoriadou has put out three CDs on the Delos label, the most recent of which is called\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/El-Aleph-Century-Guitar-Music\/dp\/B019MX8HZA\/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1468970128&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=smaro+gregoriadou\" target=\"_blank\">El Aleph: 20th and 21st Century Guitar Music <\/a><\/em>and includes the Rak piece. \u00a0 \u00a0<em>\u2014Blair Jackson<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 class=\"album-title\"><\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you are not familiar with Greek guitarist and composer Smaro Gregoriadou you are in for a treat.
