{"id":7090,"date":"2017-06-09T14:24:16","date_gmt":"2017-06-09T21:24:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/classicalguitarmagazine.com\/?p=7090"},"modified":"2017-06-12T10:27:21","modified_gmt":"2017-06-12T17:27:21","slug":"video-pick-of-the-week-kupinski-guitar-duo-plays-piazzollas-zita","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/classicalguitarmagazine.com\/video-pick-of-the-week-kupinski-guitar-duo-plays-piazzollas-zita\/","title":{"rendered":"Video Pick of the Week: Kupinski Guitar Duo Plays Piazzolla&#8217;s &#8216;Zita&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We got such a large and overwhelmingly positive response to our Video Pick a few months ago featuring Poland&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kupinskiguitarduo.com\/nuty_uk.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kupinski Guitar Duo<\/a> (Ewa Jablczynska and Dariusz Kupinski) performing their astonishing version of Gershwin&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/classicalguitarmagazine.com\/video-pick-of-the-week-polands-kupinski-guitar-duo-plays-george-gershwins-epic-rhapsody-in-blue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Rhapsody in Blue,&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0we thought we&#8217;d go back to the fabulous pair for an encore: Here they are playing Astor Piazzolla&#8217;s <em>Zita<\/em>, which the Argentinean composer\/bandoneon master originally recorded in 1975 as part of his <em>Suite Troileana<\/em> on an album called <em>Lumi\u00e8re<\/em>. As always seems to be the case, Piazzolla&#8217;s music translates to guitar with apparent ease and grace. (For an extra treat, here&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=P_vgWOk-9Y8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Piazzolla playing the piece<\/a> as part of his Octeto Electronico in France in 1977.)<\/p>\n<p>Studio recordings of both <em>Zita<\/em> and <em>Rhapsody in Blue<\/em>\u00a0(as well as their wondrous version of the <em>La gazza ladra<\/em> overture) can be heard on a CD called <em>Kupinski Guitar Duo<\/em> through Spotify or Apple Music (and perhaps other streaming services).
