{"id":9885,"date":"2018-05-06T05:00:26","date_gmt":"2018-05-06T12:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/classicalguitarmagazine.com\/?p=9885"},"modified":"2018-05-07T10:31:56","modified_gmt":"2018-05-07T17:31:56","slug":"third-le-temps-des-guitares-festival-coming-in-july-to-southwest-france","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/classicalguitarmagazine.com\/third-le-temps-des-guitares-festival-coming-in-july-to-southwest-france\/","title":{"rendered":"Third &#8216;Le Temps des Guitares&#8217; Festival Coming in July to Southwest France"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;re going to be anywhere near Southern France\u00a0 toward the end of July\u2014or are looking for an excuse to go there\u2014we heartily recommend you check out the third annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.letempsdesguitares.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8216;Le Temps des Guitares&#8217; International Guitar Festival <\/a>July 18\u201321 in the beautiful, medieval French town of Puy-l&#8217;\u00c9v\u00eaque, which is in the heart of the wonderful Cahors wine region, situated on the Lot River, about two hours north of Toulouse. Each year, the festival has gotten bigger and more successful, and this summer&#8217;s is looking to be their most ambitious yet, with a wide variety of artists and styles, not mention a different &#8220;wine partner&#8221; for each of the four evening concerts.<\/p>\n<p>The lineup includes Franco-Israeli guitarist Liat Cohen and French guitar great Val\u00e9rie Duch\u00e2teau on Wednesday 7\/18; the young Australian wonder Stephanie Jones (who is also part of Germany&#8217;s fantastic Weimar Guitar Quartet) and Egyptian-born Australian oud virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist Joseph Tawadros on Thursday 7\/19; Alexandre Bernoud (France) and Les Freres Meduses duo\u2014American Randall Avers and the prolific Frenchman Beno\u00eet Albert\u2014on Friday 7\/20; and wrapping it up on Saturday 7\/21, festival artistic directors Olivier Bensa and C\u00e9cile Cardinot (Duo Bensa-Cardinot) perform a show based around the works of lute-and-voice works of John Dowland and his contemporaries, and then Malian kora exponent Ballak\u00e9 Sissoko (a personal favorite of mine; his <em>At Peace<\/em> album is a classic!) will play his soothing and hypnotic music.<br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9892\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/classicalguitarmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/puy-leveque.jpg?resize=630%2C420\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/classicalguitarmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/puy-leveque.jpg?w=630&amp;ssl=1 630w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/classicalguitarmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/puy-leveque.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/classicalguitarmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/puy-leveque.jpg?resize=360%2C240&amp;ssl=1 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><br \/>\nThe festival also includes late afternoon guitar lessons, a demonstration of guitar-making, a free showcase of young guitarists, and, of course, wine-tastings.
